About HEIC to PNG

HEIC has been Apple's default photo format since iOS 11, but when you need an exact, lossless copy — a screenshot with crisp text, an image you'll edit further, or artwork with a transparent background — JPG's lossy compression gets in the way. Converting HEIC to PNG gives you a pixel-faithful result instead.

PNG is lossless: it reproduces every pixel exactly and supports transparency, which makes it the right choice for screenshots, diagrams, logos, and any image headed into a design or editing workflow where re-compression artefacts would accumulate. This tool decodes the HEIC with a WebAssembly decoder and writes a PNG entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

The trade-off is size: because PNG keeps all the detail, the file is usually larger than the HEIC original or a JPG version. When you specifically need fidelity or a transparent background, that's a worthwhile exchange; when you just want a small, shareable photo, convert to JPG instead.

How to use HEIC to PNG
  1. Upload one or more HEIC files.
  2. The tool decodes them with a WebAssembly decoder.
  3. It writes a lossless PNG for each in your browser.
  4. Download the converted PNG files.
