Compress PDF

Shrink PDF file size in your browser with three quality presets. Runs on your device — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored.

About Compress PDF

Compress PDF reduces a document's file size so it clears the limits that keep bouncing it back — the attachment ceiling on an email, the upload cap on a job-application or government portal, the size a messaging app will accept. Instead of re-exporting from the original app, you shrink the finished PDF directly.

To reach a smaller size this tool re-encodes the pages as images at a lower quality. That's the tradeoff to understand plainly: the compressed pages become pictures, so the text on them is no longer selectable or searchable, and very fine detail softens. For a scanned document that's already an image you lose almost nothing; for a crisp text PDF, weigh whether you still need the text layer.

The whole process runs in your browser, so a confidential invoice or contract is never uploaded to a compression server. Try a setting, check the result, and re-compress until it fits.

How to use Compress PDF
  1. Upload the PDF you need to shrink.
  2. Choose how hard to compress it.
  3. Let the tool re-encode the pages.
  4. Check it's legible, then download the smaller file.
